Ebensburg Municipal Authority WWTP Monthly Report (September 2025)

Report Date: October 27, 2025
Prepared by: Luke Byrne, Project Manager, Inframark Water Infrastructure Operations

Executive Summary

  • The Ebensburg wastewater treatment plant treated 15,721,500 gallons of wastewater in September — averaging 524,050 gallons per day.
  • The centrifuge ran once; 8 tons of dry sludge were sent to landfill.
  • Staff cleaned out drying beds, which are now ready for filling in 2026. Tracy notified Somerset Water Authority about coordinating hauled sludge deliveries for October.
  • New limit switches were installed on the UV hoist after old ones corroded and failed during 2025 crane inspections. An electrical connection was replaced to fix moisture issues.
  • One power outage occurred in September — a trend noted over the past year. Inframark is working with Penelec to install monitoring equipment to diagnose recurring outages.
  • Dodson Electric helped decommission 10 MCC buckets no longer in service.
  • Inframark partnered with a local fabricator to save ~$10,000 on centrifuge liners: factory price was $13,264; secured same product for $3,360. Liners have been cut, formed, delivered — installation planned for next month.
  • Sewer lift stations inspected regularly. Cummins performed annual maintenance on all three onsite generators.
  • New block heater installed at Marine pumping station. Dialer at Emerald Estates had bad relay — repaired. Broken lid at CAT lift station fixed.
  • Pump runtime hours documented; generators inspected for normal operation. Wet wells pumped down; flanges/seats checked for leaks — none found.
  • Floats/transducers at all three lift stations working properly. Basket screeners pulled and cleaned. Lift station buildings swept and cleaned.

On the Radar:

  • SCADA programming
  • Grit blower repairs
  • Drying bed filling
  • Centrifuge liner installation

Operations & Compliance

Testing Schedule:

  • Effluent pH, alkalinity, dissolved oxygen: analyzed 7 days/week.
  • SBR tank testing (Settleability, MLSS): Mon/Wed/Fri on all four units.
  • Influent/effluent compliant testing for DEP: Tuesdays & Thursdays — includes TSS, BOD, CBOD, Phosphorus, Total Kjeldahl Nitrogen, Nitrate-Nitrite, Ammonia as N, fecal coliform samples.
  • UV intensity recorded daily. Composite samples collected. All data entered into WIMS daily for E-DMR reporting. Monthly reports sent to DEP electronically by 28th.

Compliance Note:

  • All September samples compliant except one TSS sample missed by contracted lab. Inframark requested formal explanation from lab; PA DEP notified.

Plant Operations Highlights:

  • Inspected Industrial Park and Emerald Estates pump stations.
  • Daily screening unit cleanouts; grit removal optimization.
  • Sludge pumped to digesters for thickening; decanted to allow more thickening.
  • Centrifuge operations, polymer feed system optimized.
  • Floating debris removed from SBR tanks; aeration cycles optimized.
  • UV operational checks completed daily.
