Ebensburg WWTP Monthly Report - March 2026

Executive Summary

During March 2026, the Ebensburg wastewater treatment plant treated a total of 37,959,300 gallons of wastewater, averaging 1,224,493 gallons per day. The centrifuge operated weekly, sending 11. 91 tons of dry sludge to the landfill.

Key maintenance and repair activities included:

  • Installation of a new six-inch floor drain in the basement rear area (replacing a blocked, uneven old drain).
  • New plumbing for suction lines on process water pumps and installation of a new foot valve.
  • Repairs to the polymer pump, including work on the suction line and drilling/tapping the pump head with a valve.
  • Rebuilding of the sewer jetter (originally non-functional due to freezing damage) for approximately $6,500, replacing oils, filters, and damaged hydraulic hoses. Guidance on antifreeze use was provided. Tire wear issues were noted and recommendations made for adjusting haul height.

Items “On the Radar” include SCADA programming, lawn repairs, and influent splitter box lid repair.


Operations & Compliance

Compliance Testing:

  • Effluent pH, alkalinity, and dissolved oxygen analyzed daily.
  • SBR tank testing (Settleability, MLSS) performed Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays.
  • Influent/effluent compliant testing for DEP reporting on Tuesdays and Thursdays, including TSS, BOD, CBOD, Phosphorus, Nitrogen compounds, Ammonia, and fecal coliform samples.
  • UV intensity recorded; composite samples collected.
  • All data entered into WIMS daily; monthly reports sent electronically to DEP by the 28th.
  • All samples collected in March were in compliance.

Plant Operations:

  • Inspections and cleanouts of screening units, grit removal systems, SBR tanks, digesters, UV basins, and wet well floats.
  • Process control lab work completed daily; aeration cycles optimized.
  • Sludge pumped to digesters for thickening; decanters adjusted.
  • Centrifuge operations, polymer feed optimization, and dumpster preparation completed.
  • Floating debris removed from SBR tanks; UV operational checks performed.

Maintenance & Repair

Inframark staff completed 135 work orders in March. Key tasks included:

  • Greasing decanters, screening units, and centrifuge.
  • Jetter rebuild (as noted above).
  • Process water suction line repairs and basement floor drain installation.
  • Polymer pump repairs.
  • Cleaning Trojan UV channel, headworks bypass channel, and digester weirs/troughs.
  • Monthly safety inspections completed.
  • Daily checks on blower oil/belts; weekly greasing.
  • Sweeping and mopping control building floors weekly.
