Executive Summary – Key Operational Highlights

  • Water Treated in September:

    • Total: 31,418,000 gallons from reservoir
    • Daily average: 1,047,267 gallons/day
    • Ebensburg supplied water to Nanty Glo throughout September.
  • Purchased Water:

    • Average of 94,319 gallons/day purchased from Saltlick and blended into Ebensburg’s system.
    • Higher than usual due to increased demand from Nanty Glo and Jackson Township.
  • Ogden Tank Site:

    • Increased flows allowed collection of data on disinfection by-product formation.
    • Samples taken first week of September showed levels reduced to half the maximum contaminant level at sample site 701 (airport).
  • SCADA Battery Backup:

    • Repaired and tested to prevent power loss during outages.
  • Reservoir Bypass Line:

    • Closed to supplement downstream flow requirement of 270,000 gallons/day.
    • Recent weather provided adequate flows to meet this requirement.
  • Chemical Spill Incident (Sept 6):

    • Inframark notified Public Works Director Josh of a chemical spill at Ogden tank pump station.
    • Strong chlorine odor detected; sodium hypochlorite found on walls/floor.
    • Cause: Broken chemical feedline.
  • Backwash Tank Inspection:

    • Visual exterior and interior inspection completed at WTP facility.
    • Tank found to be in excellent condition.
  • DEP Site Visit (Sept 26):

    • Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) Bureau of Safe Drinking Water visited to collect raw source water samples for cyanotoxin analysis.
    • No detections found in August samples.
  • Hillcrest Elevated Tank:

    • Drained; painting work scheduled to begin first week of October.
    • Inframark met with Public Works Director to provide remote SCADA controls/data access — critical for monitoring during power loss.
    • Noted possible leak on low system; trending indicated 30 gallons/minute overnight flow increase.

Health & Safety

  • No accidents occurred in September.
  • Personnel have worked 6,450 days (17 years 7 months) without an accident or injury.
