The Ebensburg Main Street Partnership released its 2024 Annual Report, highlighting the organization's efforts to increase economic vitality and community engagement in the Ebensburg Central Business District. Key Achievements in 2024
Community Engagement
The partnership focused heavily on involving local youth, volunteers, and residents through various events:
- Youth Programs: Activities included displaying student artwork in downtown storefronts, funding "Paint the Town for Halloween," and inviting high school marching bands to the Christmas Parade (with $300 donations given to each participating school). A historic downtown mural was completed in partnership with CCHS art students.
- Volunteer Support: The organization facilitated park clean-ups, hosted a Volunteer Appreciation Night, and awarded the Ebensburg Woman’s Club as "Volunteer of the Year. "
- Resident Events: Highlights included a 4th of July concert with the Johnstown Symphony Orchestra, a weekly summer Farmer’s Market, a Fall Foliage Bike Ride, WinterFest sled riding, and a community Halloween Parade. Facebook followers increased to 10,929.
Infrastructure Enhancements
- Art & Decor: Funded the Historic Downtown Ebensburg Mural (High & Cherry Streets) and purchased new patriotic lamppost banners.
- Greenery: Funded downtown hanging flower baskets and planters.
- Partnerships: Collaborated with Girl Scouts to promote their Silver Award Labyrinth Trail Project near the Ebensburg Upper Reservoir.
Economic & Business Development
- Funding: Awarded a $50,000 grant to fund façade improvement projects.
- Events: Hosted Lt. Governor Austin Davis for a press event, held Small Business Saturday contests, and organized networking mixers.
- New Businesses: Hosted ribbon cuttings for six new businesses: Artistry from Scratch, Laser Creations, Lorie Bracken Nail Salon, Roots Kitchen, Impact Auto Service, and Sweet Mama Bee’s.
Marketing & Accreditation
- Events: Promoted an annual schedule including Art in Bloom, Wheels & Wings, Movies in the Park, and PotatoFest.
- Accreditation: The partnership was awarded National Main Street Center accreditation for the 10th consecutive year.
Future Goals for 2025
The partnership has outlined several objectives for the upcoming year:
- Celebrate the 200th Anniversary of the Incorporation of Ebensburg Borough.
- Work with CCHS seniors on a "Brightening Up the Burg" senior project.
- Establish two $1,000 High School Senior "Community Connections" scholarships.
- Apply for the Small Town Challenge Endowment Fund.
- Launch an online store for Ebensburg merchandise.
- Purchase and place a new kayak launch at the Ebensburg Upper Reservoir.
