1. New Business
A. Executive Sessions
The Council held executive sessions on:
- June 23, 2023 (12:00 p. m. – 1:05 p. m. )
- June 28, 2023 (4:30 p. m. – 7:35 p. m. )
- July 5, 2023 (4:45 p. m. – 7:30 p. m. )
These sessions were for interviewing candidates for the vacant Chief of Police position. An additional executive session was held immediately before this meeting to review final candidate information.
Recommended Action: Make it a matter of record that executive sessions were held on the above dates.
B. Police Chief Vacancy
- Twelve applications were received for the Chief of Police position.
- Initial interviews were conducted with seven applicants, attended by the Borough Manager and various council members.
- The list was narrowed to the top three candidates, who were interviewed by the Borough Manager and full Council on July 5th.
- The interview process is now complete, and the Council is prepared to nominate a candidate and vote.
Recommended Action: Entertain a motion to appoint a new Chief of Police and approve a conditional offer of employment.
