Ebensburg Recreation Board Meeting Summary Date: November 13, 2024 Location: Ebensburg Borough Building Time: 6:30 PM – 7:27 PM Submitted by: Rebecca Williamson, Recreation Director Opening & Attendance Meeting called to order at 6:30 PM by Samantha Kemock. Members Present: Samantha Kemock, Phil Woo, Jamie Oravec, Rory Coleman, Rebecca Williamson. Members Absent: Theresa Jacoby, Kristen McRoberts, Diane Hoffman. No visitors or public comments received. Administrative Items September Minutes: Approved via motion by Samantha Kemock, seconded by Jamie Oravec. Board Appointments: None made. Financial Report (September 2024): Reviewed and approved; motion by Phil Woo, seconded by Sam Kemock. Old Business Pool Project Update 75% of the pool project completed. Painting delayed until May due to weather. Sprinklers in shallow end painted/refreshed. New stairs and railings planned for deep-end slide (due to rust/deterioration). Nine new lawn chairs delivered and stored. Building winterized by Kircon-Breco; pool filled by RD. Memorial Ball Fields Grant application denied. Group considering new quote from Brian Holly (materials only, digging, drainage). Dr. Woo suggested community volunteers help fill field to reduce costs. Ebensburg Softball (ESL) will provide one individual for field maintenance. ESL requested help cleaning shed to make space for ESL and BC Softball. Requested new locks on concession stand and shed due to missing materials from unauthorized access. ESL Lease ESL reviewed and revised lease; RD to send to borough manager for review/signature. Halloween Party ~250 attendees (parents and children); positive feedback. Plan to continue next year. New Business Expansion Project Discussed possibly expanding only the lobby area and replacing broken equipment instead of full expansion. Dr. Woo to consult with Transystems. YPCC Basketball League Registration open; 39 teams registered. Schedule to be made first week of December; coaches meeting following week. RD plans to expand concession stand with healthy options + pizza/pepperoni rolls. 5 CCHS students volunteering at concession stand. 3 student referees volunteered for K-2 league; contact made with Wade Kelzek for 3–4 more. YPCC Gym Rental Current rate: $30/hr. Motion passed (Sam Kemock, 2nd Dr. Woo): All individuals pay full $30/hr regardless of frequency; payment collected upfront to prevent no-shows. For 2026 season: Basketball teams get first priority for gym time (included in registration fee). Scheduling to be coordinated with YPCC staff.
