Ebensburg Recreation Board Minutes from November 12, 2025

Meeting Overview

The Ebensburg Recreation Board held its monthly meeting on November 12, 2025. The session was called to order at 6:31 PM by Samantha Kemock and held at the Ebensburg Borough building. The meeting concluded at 7:24 PM.

Attendance:

• Present: Amber Mesoras, Rebecca Williamson, Rory Coleman, and Samantha Kemock.
• Absent: Theresa Jacoby, Phil Woo, Susan Kuhar, Melanie Keller, and Ashley Bobby.

Old Business Updates

The board reviewed updates regarding the YPCC, Tennis Center, and Memorial Fields.

• YPCC:
  • Roof repairs were completed on November 2, 2025.
  • Bingo games are filling up quickly, with a waitlist already established for 2027.
  • The Halloween vendor show was successful, featuring 12 vendors and over 200 participants. The board collected $950 in sponsorships.
• Tennis Center:
  • RD is monitoring discussions between Jamie Taylor and the SFU coach regarding a transition from D1-D3 in 2027.
  • Both the CCHS girls tennis team and SFU teams continue to utilize the facility for practice and matches.
• Memorial Fields:
  • A new door was installed in the men's room, and locks were added to both men's and women's bathroom doors. An alarm system is active to prevent vandalism.
  • The borough will cover the costs for restoring McDonald’s Field and First Energy Fields. Work was scheduled to begin in early November but is currently delayed by Elite due to wet weather conditions.

New Business

The board discussed funding and future planning for specific projects.

• YPCC Sponsorships: The group discussed seeking sponsorships and donations from local businesses to offset YPCC costs. In exchange, banners would be hung in the gymnasium. Members are tasked with bringing additional business ideas to the next meeting.
• Lake Rowena Grant: The board discussed plans for two playgrounds and an outdoor fitness area in the lake area. Topics included equipment selection, usage, and long-term maintenance strategies.
