Ebensburg Recreation Board Minutes from December 11, 2024

Meeting Overview

The Ebensburg Recreation Board held its monthly meeting on December 11, 2024, at the Pour on Center. The session was called to order at 7:17 PM by Samantha Kemock and adjourned at 8:30 PM.

Attendance:

• Present: Samantha Kemock, Phil Woo, Rory Coleman, and Rebecca Williamson.
• Absent: Theresa Jacoby, Jamie Oravec, and Diane Hoffman.
• Visitors: Amber Mesoras.

Administrative Actions

The board reviewed and approved the minutes from September 2024 via a motion by Samantha Kemock, seconded by Phil Woo. The September 2024 financial report was also reviewed and approved, with a motion by Phil Woo and seconded by Sam Kemock. No new appointments to the board were made during this session.

Facility Updates

• Pool: New stairs were installed on the yellow slide on November 26, 2024. Mark Ford completed a full inspection of the remaining slides.
• Memorial Ball Fields: An application for $42,000 was submitted to the Local Share Account to fund repairs for all three ballfields. Additionally, a signed lease was obtained from the Ebensburg Softball League.

New Business

• Expansion Project: The board voted to dismiss the expansion project due to a pressing need for new equipment at the YPCC and other necessary repairs. The group discussed strategies to purchase new equipment to maintain current memberships.
• YPCC Basketball League: There are currently 46 teams registered. A coach's meeting was held on December 11, 2024, to discuss rule changes; all teams except four were present.
• Recreation Board Vacancy: Kristen McRoberts resigned from her position. Amber Mesoras submitted a letter of interest and attended the meeting, where she was well-received by the group. Formal voting on her appointment is scheduled for January.

The next meeting is scheduled for January 15, 2025, at the Ebensburg Borough Building. Minutes were submitted by Rebecca Williamson, Recreation Director.
