Ebensburg Borough Recreation Board Meeting Agenda

Date: Wednesday, May 16, 2025

Opening Procedures

The meeting agenda begins with standard protocols, including the call to order, Pledge of Allegiance, and public comments. Attendees are invited to address the board, followed by the approval of minutes from the April 2025 meeting.

Old Business Updates

The board reviewed updates across four main categories:

  • Recreation Board: Two new members were introduced: Melanie Boland and Ashley Bobby.
  • YPCC (Youth/Community Center):
    • Sports Interior: Updates regarding the interior are available in an attachment.
    • Court Placement: The board is re-evaluating the placement of pickleball courts and the hockey rink.
    • Memorial Field Pickleball: An application for a grant to build pickleball courts at Memorial Field is underway. The deadline is May 31st.
    • Bingo: The next bingo event is scheduled for today, May 16, 2025.
  • Pool:
    • Lifeguards: Certification classes are currently in progress.
    • Painting: Avalotis completed the painting project on May 10, 2025. The paint requires 5–7 days to dry.
    • Maintenance: The slide on the kiddy end requires attention, specifically that the body of the pump needs to be pulled out.
    • Cleaning: RD and lifeguards cleaned the bathrooms and pool house on May 14.
  • Ballfields:
    • McDonald’s Field: There is a drainage issue to address.
    • Kimball Field: The project here has been completed.
    • Memorial Field: Updates were provided regarding the bathrooms and concession stand.

New Business

Three new items were added to the agenda:

  1. Brighten the Burg Project: A project compliments of CCHS (Central Cambria High School).
  2. Tennis Center: The fire alarm system is malfunctioning and needs to be replaced.
  3. Lake Rowena: A grant application for beautification is being discussed.

Upcoming Meeting

The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at 6:30 PM at the Borough building.
