Meeting Overview

The Ebensburg Recreation Board held its monthly meeting on May 13, 2026, at the Ebensburg Borough Office. The meeting was called to order at 6:35 PM by Amber Mesoras and adjourned at 7:07 PM.

Attendance:

  • Present: Rebecca Williamson, Phil Woo, Melanie Boland, and Amber Mesoras.
  • Absent: Theresa Jacoby, Susan Kuhar, Ashley Bobby, and Rory Coleman.

Operational Updates

  • YPCC: The Egov credit system is pending an update.
  • Tennis Center: The point-of-sale system has been discontinued. The Mindbody platform is currently in the planning stages with an app developed.

Lake Rowena Grant & Projects

  • Smart Lighting: The Borough Manager and RD met with Comcast regarding a Smart Lighting System. A quote of $58,000 for a three-year contract was received; however, the Borough Manager and RD are investigating other opportunities.
  • Dredging: A bid of $2,698,270 from Coastal Engineering was accepted by the council. The project is scheduled to begin after August 1, 2026.
  • Concession Stand: Plans have been approved. The request for bid was posted on May 8th, with bids due by June 18, 2026, at noon.
  • Pavilion Rentals: There will be no pavilion rentals after August 1, 2026, due to the dredging project.

Pool Updates

  • Amler Grant: The grant is due in October 2026. Discussions regarding a revised swing set/play area are ongoing.
  • Maintenance: Removal of dead trees in the stream behind the pool has begun. A sump pump was added to the pump room to prevent flooding.
  • Cleaning: Returning lifeguards have cleaned the pool house interior, and pool cleaning has commenced.
  • Upcoming Events: A mandatory guard meeting is scheduled for May 20th at the pool. Swim lessons and passes have been posted and are being received.

New Business

  • Memorial Ballfields: The McDonald’s Field and First Energy Fields are completed. RD is currently applying for reimbursement.
  • YPCC "Brighten the Burg": This project will take place on May 19th, led by CCHS Juniors and Seniors. Activities include weeding, mulching, cleaning, and painting various locations within the borough, with assistance from borough staff.
  • Kickboard Consulting/YPCC Swim Team: A contract was developed for the team to utilize the pool after hours for practice. This contract will be presented to the council at their May 18th meeting. New liability insurance was provided by Kickboard Consulting.

Next Meeting: June 10, 2026, at 6:30 PM at the borough office.
