Downtown Mural Unveiled
The "Historic Downtown Ebensburg" mural was unveiled on Friday, May 24th, located on the side of the High Street Body Shop building at the corner of West High and Cherry Streets. The project was a collaborative effort involving:
- Artists: Central Cambria High School art teacher Mr. Brian Dumm and approximately 60 of his students.
- Partners: Ebensburg Main Street Partnership, town historian Dave Huber, Mayor Randy Datsko, and High Street Body Shop owners Eric & Dana Danchanko.
- Design Elements: The mural features a Welsh dragon (symbolizing founders), a gavel (County Seat status), a water droplet (early settlers' spring discovery), a gazebo (downtown parks), and a horse and carriage (commerce history).
Police Department Updates
- Retirement: Assistant Chief Robert Sapp retired on May 3rd after serving the borough for over 22 years. He was hired as a full-time officer in 1997 and promoted to Assistant Chief in 2015.
- New Hire: Officer Anthony Cavazza joined the department as a full-time officer in May. He previously worked part-time with Ebensburg and full-time with the Hastings Borough Police Department, as well as for sheriff's offices in Blair County, PA, and Caroline County, VA.
Community Organizations & Projects
- Rail City Curling Club: The club has relocated its home base to the North Central Recreation Center (NCRC) in Ebensburg. Membership has surged by over 50% since the move, with 32 active members. They are preparing to host their inaugural Bonspiel in August.
- Stormwater Project: Construction is set to begin in late July and last approximately 7 months. The project involves installing over 5,500 feet of stormwater pipe and related infrastructure in areas including West Highland Avenue, N. Julian Street, and Randolph Street.
- Time Capsule: A time capsule buried in 1975 for the borough's 150th anniversary is scheduled to be opened in the summer of 2025 for the 200th anniversary. It contains messages from notable figures like Neil Armstrong and President Gerald Ford, as well as names of local school children.

- Downtown Shutdown: Friday, July 26, 6–11 PM in Downtown Ebensburg.
- Ebensburg Homecoming: Saturday, July 27, at Ebensburg Area & Lake Rowena.
- Farmer’s Market: Saturdays, 9 AM – 12 PM at Penn Eben Park (July 6 – September 21).
- Movies in the Park: June 28 & July 12 at Veterans Memorial Park.
