Welcome to Ebensburg Sign

The Borough has received positive feedback regarding the new "Welcome to Ebensburg" sign installed near Lake Rowena. This is the first of five planned entrance signs, underwritten by the Ebensburg Rotary Club. Due to its success, the Rotary Club has agreed to fund a second sign for the west side of town near Holy Name Cemetery. The Borough is seeking contributions from other organizations or businesses for the remaining signs, which are planned for Route 422 near Bishop Carroll, Center Street near the former middle school, and Center Street near Agway. Interested parties should contact Dan at the borough office.

Downtown Flowers

Large flower pots are being added to the downtown area, specifically within the bricked section of sidewalks along Center Street and High Street. The Borough and the Ebensburg Main Street Partnership have purchased the pots, filled them with soil, and will place them in front of businesses that have agreed to maintain the flowers.

• Dimensions: 25. 5 inches high, 24. 5 inches diameter, weighing 240 lbs.
• Requirement: Caretakers must acquire and plant flowers each spring and provide regular watering.

Water & Sewer Projects

• Sewer System: The PA Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) requires municipalities to reduce stormwater entering the sewage system. Ebensburg is conducting smoke testing and disconnecting downspouts to eliminate illegal connections. Combined sewer overflows (CSOs) must be eliminated by September 2017 to prevent the treatment plant from flooding.
• Water System: The $5. 1 million water system improvement project is nearing completion. Upgrades include new distribution mains near Mylo Park, Crestwood Estates, and the southeast corner of town. A new backwash tank has been built at the water treatment plant, and the filtering system has been significantly improved.
• New Water Meters: New radio-read meters are being installed for all customers by the end of summer. These meters will allow the borough to read usage remotely and detect potential leaks caused by increased flow.

Community Events & News

• Meet Danea Koss: The Borough welcomed Danea Koss as Community Development Director in March. She is an Ebensburg native who returned after living and working in the Washington, DC area for 12 years.
• Concerts in the Park: A series of concerts is scheduled for August at Penn Eben Park:
• Downtown Shutdown: This event, held the Friday before Homecoming, will return on July 26th. The entertainment lineup includes Evil Ways (a Santana Tribute Band) and Juke Left. Show times are 7 to 11 pm.
• 22nd Annual PotatoFest: Taking place on Saturday, September 28th from 9 am to 5 pm in Downtown Ebensburg. Vendor applications are accepted through August 10th.
