Ebensburg Borough Bulletin - January 2025 Edition
Overview
The Ebensburg Bulletin serves as the official publication for the Borough of Ebensburg, Cambria County. This January 2025 issue highlights a successful 2024, introduces the new Recreation Director, and provides updates on local businesses, library programming, health facilities, and community events.
2024 Borough Achievements
Council and staff completed numerous projects in 2024, including:
- Infrastructure: Replaced old waterlines (Phase 1), completed sewer line replacements on Lovell Avenue and Manor Drive, installed a stormwater drainage system in the northwest quadrant, and purchased a new police cruiser.
- Compliance & Safety: Achieved Lead-Copper Rule compliance (mandated by EPA), installed a thermal barrier at the Tennis Center to prevent condensation, and secured grants for a new police reporting system and rapid flashing beacon.
- Community & Facilities: Completed Phase 1 of the Borough Swimming Pool renovation, installed a Historic Ebensburg mural on High Street, and purchased the "Municipal Parking Lot" at W. High & S. Cherry Streets.
- Staffing: Hired a new Recreation Director and a full-time police officer to replace a retiring one.
Meet the New Recreation Director
Rebecca Williamson joined the borough team in August 2024 as the new Recreation Director.
- Background: Born and raised in Ebensburg, she resides there with her husband and two children.
- Experience: A registered, licensed dietitian with 14 years at Indiana Regional Medical Center developing wellness programs. She has volunteered extensively in the community, including with CCHS Golf Boosters, CES PTO, and downtown events like Wheels & Wings.
- Vision: Williamson expressed excitement about the widespread recreation opportunities, particularly the YPCC and the operating community pool, and aims to bring new programming to the area.

- Replay Pop Up Consignment LLC: Hosting a Spring & Summer Sale April 24-27, 2025, at the American Legion County Fairgrounds.
Ebensburg Cambria Public Library Programming
The library offers regular programming, all subject to change:
- Sprouts Storytime (Ages birth-3): First Tuesday of the month at 6 p. m.
- Pick-Up Sticks (Crochet/Knit): First Friday of the month at 11 a. m.
- Storytime (Ages 3-5): Third Tuesday of the month at 5 p. m.
- Little Builders (Ages 2-5): Third Friday of the month at 11:30 a. m.
- Lego Club (Ages 6-12): Last Tuesday of the month at 5 p. m.
- Book Club: Last Wednesday of the month at 7 p. m.
- Game Day for Adults and Seniors: Last Friday of the month at 1 p. m.
- Upcoming Summer Events: 2025 SummerQuest, Music on the Patio, Used Book Sale/Yard Sale during Homecoming.
Recycle Cans Available
The borough switched to new "toter" cans required by Pro Disposal. Approximately 50 old-style recycle cans remain in storage. These are available at no cost to borough residents on a first-come, first-served basis. Residents can pick them up at the front office of the borough building while supplies last. They may be used for trash or yard waste.
YPCC Health & Wellness Facility
Located inside the Young Peoples Community Center (YPCC), this facility offers cardio/weight equipment, personal trainers, and classes.
- Hours: Mon-Fri 9 am-9 pm; Sat 10 am-9 pm; Sun Noon-9 pm.
- Membership Fees:
- Adult: $35/month
- Seniors (55+): $30/month
- Student/Military/1st Responder: $30/month
- Family (1 Adult & 1 Student): $60/month
- Daily Drop-in: $5
- Specials: Purchase 3 months get 1 free; 6 months get 2 free; 9 months get 3 free.
- 24-Hour Access: Available for $15 (Key Fob) for anyone 18+.
- Youth Access: Open gym is free for kids under 18.
YPCC Rental Programs
- Cross-Country Ski & Bike/E-Bike: Rentals available at Lake Rowena.
- Ski/Bike Hourly: $8/adult, $6/youth. Full Day: $32/adult, $24/youth.
- E-Bike Hourly: $15/hour or $60/day.
- Note: Liability waiver required.
- Pavilion Rentals: Three pavilions at Lake Rowena and two at the Borough Swimming Pool. Cost is $125. 00 plus a $25. 00 cleaning deposit (refundable if cleaned).
Ebensburg Borough Pool Information
- Opening Day: Saturday, May 24, 2025 (Tentative).
- Hours: Mon-Thu 12 pm-7 pm; Fri-Sun 12 pm-6 pm.
- 2024 Pool Rates:
- Walk-in: Adult $7, Seniors/Children (4-18) $5.
- Multi-Visit (Min 5 Passes): Adult $30, Seniors/Children $20.
- Season Pass: Adult $150, Seniors/Children $125.
- Add-on to Season Pass: $50/person.
- Free Admission: Children under 3 and those with a Military ID.
