Ebensburg Borough Council Achievements (2022)

The newsletter highlights the successful projects completed by the council and staff in 2022:

  • Infrastructure: Installation of trees on W. Horner, W. Crawford, and W. Sample Streets; milling and resurfacing streets in the northwest quadrant; line painting at the airport; and a "Welcome to Ebensburg" mural at Lake Rowena.
  • Public Safety: Replacement of a police cruiser.
  • Grants & Funding: Secured a $1,265,101 grant for High Street water line replacement; applied for DCNR grants for a dog park at Lake Rowena; and secured $50,000 in funding for the Façade Improvement Grant program.
  • Administration: Hired a new public works director; maintained gold certification in the PA Sustainable Community Program; and finalized a 4-year labor agreement with AFSCME.

Library Centennial Celebration

The Ebensburg Cambria Public Library is celebrating its 100th anniversary, marking its opening in 1923. The year-long celebration includes:

  • Events: A reading challenge for ages 0-100, a summer Block Party, and a special brew from Lloyd Street Brewing.
  • Programs: Monthly offerings such as Story Time, LEGO Club, Book Club, and Game Day for adults.
  • Hours: Extended operating hours on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.

New Businesses

The borough welcomes three new businesses located in the Ebensburg Mini Mall:

  • Great Vintage Picks: Sports Cards & Hobby (3135 New Germany Road).
  • Stoneycreek Photography: Photography services (3133 New Germany Road).
  • The Imperial Room: Catering and special event venue (3133 New Germany Road).

Community Resources & Services

  • Penn State Extension: The local office (401 Candlelight Drive) offers science-based education, 4-H youth programs, and Master Gardener opportunities.
  • Swift911: The borough uses this system for emergency notifications (boil water, sewer emergencies). Residents are encouraged to register at the borough website.
  • YPCC (Young Peoples Community Center): Offers fitness memberships ($30/month for adults), drop-in rates, and cross-country ski/bike rentals. The outdoor skate/hockey rink at Lake Rowena is free to the public.

Ebensburg Borough Pool Information

  • Opening Day: Saturday, May 27, 2023.
  • Hours: Monday–Thursday (12 pm - 7 pm); Friday–Sunday (12 pm - 6 pm).
  • Rates: Walk-in is $7 for adults, $5 for seniors/children. Season passes are $140 (adults) and $115 (seniors/children).

  • Fall: American Legion County Fair (Sept 3-9); PotatoFest (Sept 30); Fall Foliage Bike Ride (Oct 8); Halloween Parade (Oct 29).
  • Winter: Turkey Trot (Nov 23); Small Business Saturday (Nov 25); Dickens of a Christmas (Dec 1-3).
