Ebensburg Municipal Authority - November 2023 WTP Monthly Report Date: December 18th, 2023 Prepared by: Luke Byrne, Inframark Executive Summary During November 2023, the Ebensburg water treatment plant (WTP) treated a total of 27,718,000 gallons of reservoir water. This averages to approximately 923,933 gallons per day . An additional average of 60,300 gallons per day was purchased from Saltlick and blended into the distribution system. The Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) unit has been returned to service and is operating well. Annual boiler cleaning and preventive maintenance were completed on both natural gas boilers. Inframark continues to monitor WTP pumping stations (Saltlick, Ogden, and Hillcrest). A failing signal converter on the Saltlick meter was repaired by Inframark and LB Water’s meter specialist. On November 29th, an annual fourth-quarter filter bed evaluation with media analysis was completed. The filter was found to be in excellent condition, though the final detailed report is pending. The downstream by-pass flow valve was operated multiple times to meet the instream flow requirement of 270,000 gallons per day (GPD). Water Quality Testing: Nine bacteriological samples were collected; zero were total coliform positive. Four chlorine samples were collected in the distribution system; all met or exceeded the minimum requirement of 0. 20mg/L free chlorine. Instrumentation: Online and lab instruments were calibrated to meet PA DEP requirements. Comparative grab samples were taken to ensure the accuracy of continuous chlorine, turbidity, and pH analyzers. Plant Production: Daily production fluctuated between 821,000 and 1,045,000 gallons. Maintenance: Filters are washed every 144 hours (once per week). Clarifiers are monitored for sludge content and settling capability. Maintenance & Repair Inframark staff completed 95 work orders in November. Key activities included: Inspections of fire extinguishers, SCBA equipment, ladders, and eye wash/safety showers. Exercise of sump pumps. DAF repairs and inspections. Boiler maintenance and blower lubrication. Finished water pump packing inspections and greasing of finished water pumps/motors. Hillcrest chlorine analyzer cleaning/calibration. SCADA/instrument adjustments for Daylight Savings Time. Greasing of clarifier drives and cleaning of clarifier troughs. Chlorine room alarm test. Weekly cleaning of pH and turbidity meters. Jar testing to optimize chemical usage. DAF sump level sensor verifications.
