Ebensburg Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) Report - June 2023 Submitted by: Inframark Water Infrastructure Operations Date of Report: July 24, 2023 Executive Summary Volume Treated: The plant treated a total of 13,421,000 million gallons of wastewater in June. Daily Average: This equates to an average of 447,000 million gallons per day. Compliance: All testing and operational requirements were met for the month. Sludge Disposal: 9. 217 tons of sludge were sent to the landfill. Maintenance: Staff replaced a failing aeration valve on SBR tank #1. Operations & Maintenance Testing Schedule: SBR tank testing for process control occurs on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Influent and effluent compliance testing for DEP reporting occurs on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Reporting: All data is entered into WIMS daily for E-DMR monthly reporting. Monthly reports are sent electronically to the DEP by the 28th of each month. Routine Checks: Plant rounds and equipment checks were performed twice daily per shift. Equipment Status: Blowers, screening units, U. V. units, and influent/effluent samplers were operating properly. The centrifuge was run weekly. Cleaning: Influent screening unit was hosed and cleaned daily. Floors in the influent building, centrifuge building, and sludge dumpster area were swept and hosed. U. V. trough, bulbs, and sensors were cleaned twice during the month. Work Orders: A total of 281 work orders were completed for the month. Financial Update Total Maintenance Expenditures: $1,916. 67 Key Expenses: Applied Technologies: $1,106. 38 (Spare motor for screening unit) Grainger: $276. 47 (Cable and fittings for mixers) Wal-Mart: $162. 06 (Office and cleaning supplies) NAPA: $165. 21 (New battery for loader) Health & Safety Accident Record: There were no accidents in June. Personnel have worked 6,740 days (18 years and 3 months) without an accident or injury. Training & Inspections: Weekly tailgate meetings were held. Topics covered included COVID-19 updates, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and heat stroke awareness. Monthly safety inspections, fire extinguisher checks, and inspections of diesel, generator, propane tanks, and ladders were completed. On the Radar (Upcoming Tasks) Replacing wiper seals on the U. V. wiper system. Installing 3 new SBR aeration valves to replace existing ones. Removing mixers and sludge pumps from tanks to change oil. Ebensburg Water Treatment Plant (WTP) Report - June 2023 Submitted by: Inframark Water Infrastructure Operations Date of Report: July 24, 2023 Executive Summary Volume Treated: The plant treated 27,379,000 gallons of reservoir water. Daily Average: This equates to an average of 912,633 gallons per day. Production Increase: June 2023 production shows an increase of 126,200 gallons per day compared to June 2022. Purchased Water: An average of 63,608 gallons per day was purchased from Saltlick and blended into the distribution system. Compliance Assistance: Staff assisted the public works director with the Initial Demonstration of Capability for analyzing Chlorine (Method 334. 0). Key Events & Maintenance Mainline Break (June 2nd): High water flow alarms were triggered. Inframark located the break, assisted in isolating the leak, and recommended a boil water notice due to the need to cut the mainline and loss of positive pressure. Drought Watch: PA DEP issued a "Drought Watch" for all 67 counties in Pennsylvania. The upper reservoir is currently roughly -2. 2ft below the spillway. Inframark is reviewing the EMA’s Drought Contingency Plan with Borough staff. Cyanotoxin Monitoring (June 20th): PA DEP collected raw water samples; there were no detects. Gate Repair: Inframark thanked Josh for repairing an unsecured/damaged upper reservoir gate noted by PA DEP. Signage is being worked on for the gate and WTP facility. Equipment Service: A full service was performed on the WTP air scour blower unit, including oil/grease changes and belt tensioning. Flow Adjustment (June 21st): The upper reservoir stream flow valve was shut to meet the 270,000 gallon per day downstream flow requirement. Filter Evaluation (June 23rd): The second quarter filter bed evaluation on filter #3 was completed. The filter is in excellent condition. Pool Issue: Staff fixed a chlorine feed issue at the borough pool. Operations & Compliance Production Range: Plant production fluctuated between 817,000 and 1,188,000 gallons/day. Filter Washing: Filters are washed every 144 hours (once per week). Monitoring: Clarifiers, flows, chemical feed rates, and online instrument flows are monitored daily. Bacteriological Sampling: Nine samples were collected and analyzed; zero were found to be total coliform positive. Chlorine Monitoring: Four samples were collected in June, all meeting the minimum requirement of 0. 20mg/L free chlorine. Water Loss Study: Inframark submitted a study/plan to PA DEP regarding historical water loss and is awaiting a response. Instrument Calibration: Online and lab instrumentation were calibrated to conform to PA DEP requirements. Personnel have worked 1,246 days (3 years and 6 months) without an accident or injury. Training & Inspections: Weekly tailgate meetings were held. Topics covered included COVID-19 updates, PPE, and a Drought Contingency Plan (DCP) review. Inspections included eye wash/safety showers, fire extinguishers, SCBA equipment, and ladders.
